Leadership in your hands

This program is designed for young professionals who already have some project management experience and junior managers preparing for their first leadership role. To take part, you need to have at least three years of work experience, either with or without an academic degree. You should be about to take up a leadership position or have recently taken up a leadership role and have good English language skills.

This course will help you to develop your leadership skills and become a more effective leader. You will learn how to motivate your team and foster group performance. You will gain an understanding of the value of diversity in the workplace. Finally, you will learn how agile leadership enables effective communication, task distribution, and organizational structure within the team, empowering team members to autonomously, responsibly, and flexibly divide and accomplish their work.

Lecturers

Prof. Dr. Eric Kearney

Eric Kearney has been Professor of Leadership, Organizational Behavior, and Human Resource Management at the University of Potsdam since 2014. He has taught at numerous German and international universities and business schools and regularly teaches leadership courses at Mannheim Business School. His research on leadership and teamwork has been published in leading scientific journals (e.g., Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Organizational Research Methods, Organization Science, Leadership Quarterly, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes). In his talks, keynotes, and workshops, he shows how scientific findings can be highly useful for organizations in their efforts to promote performance and satisfaction. Eric Kearney's research focuses on the leadership of individuals and teams. He is particularly interested in visionary and empowering leadership, as well as how we can leverage the potential of team diversity.

Dr. Chris Schäfer

Chris Schäfer is the Founder and Managing Director of Dr. Schäfer & Partner, Munich, and regularly teaches at Mannheim Business School. He holds a PhD and MSc in Chemistry, as well as an MBA in General Management. He has eight years of international management experience in the global Life Science industry, with a focus on Europe and Asia/Pacific. Additionally, he is a certified Management Trainer and Systemic Coach, as well as a licensed Insights Discovery® and MBTI®-Trainer. He has successfully delivered projects in personnel and organizational development on a global scale. His areas of expertise include leadership training, executive coaching, agile management & agile leadership, strategy development and change management.

Kai Stenzel

Kai Stenzel is Chief Market Officer at Mannheim Business School and obtained his MBA in General Management in 2008. He has over 13 years of experience in the finance sector and began his journey at Mannheim Business School more than 10 years ago as Head of Marketing, before becoming Chief Market Officer. Throughout his career, he has gained profound leadership experience managing large teams. He is a frequent guest speaker at various functions and events and has over 20 years of expertise in professional networking. He trains professionals at all career levels on the best practices of networking, including how to cultivate a networking mindset and the dos and don’ts of effective networking.

  • The course fee is €3,500. 
  • Alumni and participants at Mannheim Business School their spouses and co-habiting partners, and alumni, staff and participants of the University of Mannheim are eligible for a 20% discount.
  • Discount of €1,000 on the degree program if you decide to study the Mannheim Part-Time MBA after doing the Leaders of Tomorrow Certificate
  • Good to know: Tax offices usually recognize costs for your further education if they are job-related. Depending on your tax status in Germany, you may claim up to 50% of the tuition fee and related travel expenses on your annual tax return. Outside of Germany, please check details with a tax advisor in your country of residence. Please note: Each federal state in Germany has regulations on educational leave. Check here to see which regulations apply in your federal state.
